This detailed guide will explain how you can easily upload files of any size to Dropbox and have them not sync with your PC/Mac.
Both the procedure and the software we’ll be using will work whether you’re on Windows or a Mac. The steps and screenshots used below are from Windows, but if you’re using a Mac you’ll be able to follow along with no problem at all.
Set Up Dropbox
Download Dropbox to get the most out of your account, including computer backup. Use the desktop app to keep all your content together in one place: files, folders, and now backups of your Mac or PC. PC and Mac backup made easy. This is because this is the whole point of Dropbox - it is what it was designed and intended to do. It is not 'just' cloud storage. It is a syncing tool. It is supposed to sync everything between computers. To disable syncing to the computer close and/or remove the Dropbox application from your machine and just use the website to upload.
Click Unlink This Dropbox. This effectively signs you out of Dropbox. A sign-in screen will appear in case you want to sign in with a different account. To re-link your Dropbox, click the Dropbox icon, then sign in to your account.
The first step, and you only have to do it once – is to create a Dropbox folder that will not sync with your computer. If you’ve already created a folder like that you can skip down to the second part below, Uploading to Dropbox.

If you’re opening 1Password for the first time, choose “Find your data” and select Dropbox from the list (if Dropbox is not shown, choose “Pick a different location”), then follow the onscreen instructions. If you’ve already set up 1Password:
